After a strong home race in Hockenheim, GEBHARDT Motorsport is travelling optimistically to the third race weekend of the Prototype Cup Germany at the DEKRA Lausitzring.
The third race weekend of the Prototype Cup Germany will take place at the DEKRA Lausitzring. For the first time this year, the German LMP3 championship will compete in the supporting programme of the DTM. GEBHARDT Motorsport from Sinsheim will start with two Duqueine D08 at the event in Brandenburg.
Michael Herich, who recently won the Trophy classification in both races at Hockenheim, will once again compete with the Swede Alexzander Kristiansson. In the team's second prototype, Mikkel C. Johansen from Denmark will line up with reigning title winner and ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Valentino Catalano.
GEBHARDT Motorsport will be travelling to the DEKRA Lausitzring, which was originally designed for the American ChampCar series and is characterised by its tri-oval, but is no longer used today. The Prototype Cup Germany will use the 3.478-kilometre short circuit, as it has done on previous visits to the Lausitzring. The team led by Fritz Gebhardt and team manager Karl David Jennings celebrated its first win of the season in the series at Hockenheim when Valentino Catalano won Saturday's race as a soloist. GEBHARDT Motorsport also has fond memories of 2024, when the team celebrated its first win of the season in the Prototype Cup Germany on the way to the title.

The team's mechanics also had a lot of work to do between races, as Oscar Tunjo slid off the track after a technical problem on Sunday and collided heavily with the track barrier. The car with starting number #80 could not be repaired before the race weekend at the Lausitzring, so the mechanics had to prepare Catalano's winning car for its next outing.
‘We are travelling to the Lausitzring with a good feeling, we proved impressively in Hockenheim that we can fight for the top positions again this year and we want to underline this again this weekend. We were able to show that the Lausitzring suits us last year with a victory. Many thanks also to our mechanics for their good and hard work in the short time between the two Prototype Cup Germany events,’ said team owner Fritz Gebhardt.
The Prototype Cup Germany will complete two races over 55 minutes and one lap at the DEKRA Lausitzring. The races will start at 17:00 on Saturday and 16:50 on Sunday. As usual, both races will be broadcast on the official live stream of the racing series on YouTube.
