GEBHARDT Motorsport bids farewell to Prototype Cup Germany with a victory in the Trophy classification.
The 2025 season in Prototype Cup Germany came to an end at the Red Bull Ring. GEBHARDT Motorsport from Sinsheim fielded a Duqueine D08, which was driven by Michael Herich and Mikkel C. Johansen from Denmark. The car competed in the Trophy classification.
On Saturday, gentleman driver Herich secured his sixth victory of the season in the Trophy classification. Together with his Danish co-driver Mikkel C. Johansen, he drove to a commanding victory. After just under an hour of racing, the duo had a lead of over 20 seconds on their closest rival. On Sunday, the Duqueine of the former Group C team did not reach the chequered flag. After falling far behind during the pit stop, Herich retired after spinning in the final stages.

Despite having the highest number of victories in the Trophy classification, Michael Herich had no chance in the title fight due to the complex points system, which favours solo starters. The fast gentleman driver finished the season in second place in the Trophy classification.
‘This marks the end of a chapter in the history of GEBHARDT Motorsport, as we do not plan to compete in the Prototype Cup Germany next year,’ explains Fritz Gebhardt. "We would like to thank the Prototype Cup Germany for the past years, as it has brought us back to modern racing. Our highlight remains winning the title in 2024. This year, our speed was often very good, with the race weekend at the Norisring, where our #11 drove the fastest lap in every session, being particularly memorable. Unfortunately, for various reasons, it was not enough for us to defend the title or to challenge for the title in the Trophy classification together with Michael Herich."

GEBHARDT Motorsport has been competing in the Prototype Cup Germany since the series was founded in 2022, initially with the Ginetta G61-LT-P3, before switching to the Duqueine D08 during the 2023 season. 2024 went down in the history books as the most successful year, as Valentino Catalano and Markus Pommer won the drivers' championship for the racing team and the team from Baden also topped the team standings at the end of the year.
GEBHARDT Motorsport will continue its international racing programme in the coming year. The team will publish further details on the 2026 racing programme after the end of this year's racing season.
