GEBHARDT Motorsport will be competing in the Prototype Cup Germany season highlight at the Norisring with three LMP3 cars.
The Prototype Cup Germany kicks off the second half of the season with a guest appearance at the Norisring. The legendary city circuit in Nuremberg will host the fourth of six race weekends in the German LMP3 championship. The series, organised by the ADAC and the Dutch Creventic organisation, last visited the circuit in the Franconian metropolis in 2023. More than 100,000 spectators are once again expected at the DTM event.
On paper, the Norisring may look simple with its four corners, but the lack of grip, hard walls and high speeds make the circuit treacherous. It is particularly important for drivers at the Norisring not to make any mistakes! Past experience has shown that a flawless performance on the Franconian circuit is the key to success.
GEBHARDT Motorsport will be competing with three Duqueine D08. Michael Herich and Alexzander Kristiansson will share the prototype with start number #1, while long-time GEBHARDT Motorsport driver Jacob Erlbacher and Swiss driver Jeremy Siffert, grandson of legendary Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert, will start in start number #80. The team's line-up is rounded off by another Duqueine for the Badischer Motorsport Club (BMC), which will be driven by Valentino Catalano and Oscar Tunjo. The two lightning-fast LMP3 drivers are aiming for overall victory on the only city circuit on the racing calendar.
‘I like the Norisring and felt very comfortable there two years ago. Qualifying went great back then, but not so much in the race. That's why I still have a score to settle with the track, which I want to do this season,’ said Catalano ahead of the race weekend in Bavaria.
Catalano, who won the Prototype Cup Germany title with the Sinsheim-based team last year, secured the GEBHARDT team's only victory of the season so far in the Prototype Cup Germany at Hockenheim in May. He won the first race of the ADAC Hockenheim Historic as a solo driver in the BMC car. Michael Herich has also won three races in the Trophy classification so far, but due to the points system, he is currently second in the championship standings.
‘Our goal for the race weekend at the Norisring is clear: we want to fight for two race wins with Oscar and Valentino and also secure further class wins with Michael Herich in the Trophy classification,’ says Fritz Gebhardt, setting the tone for the weekend at the Norisring. ‘In addition, our long-time driver Jacob Erlbacher, who already raced with us at the Norisring in 2023, will be back in the cockpit for us. I am sure that his experience on this special circuit will help Jeremy Siffert. We are very happy that Jeremy will be racing for us for the second time.’
The two Prototype Cup Germany races will start on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 4:55 p.m. Both races can be followed on the official livestream on YouTube. The two qualifying sessions will also take place on the respective race days at 8:45 a.m.
