GEBHARDT Motorsport is ready for the third round of the IMSA Airbnb Endurance Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.
GEBHARDT Motorsport is switching back to endurance mode and is ready for the third race weekend of the IMSA Airbnb Endurance Challenge, the separate endurance championship within the IMSA VP SportsCar Challenge. The series heads to Virginia International Raceway this coming weekend, where the German team will compete with two Duqueine D09 LMP3 prototypes.
Oscar Tunjo and Valentino Catalano will share one car. The duo will be sharing a chassis that was recently converted to the Duqueine D09 specification and will be used for the first time since the conversion. The sister car will be driven by Danny Soufi and Jake Williamson.

The Sinsheim-based team heads to the Alton circuit – located just around 800 metres from the border with North Carolina – with fond memories. Last year, German driver Valentino Catalano won all three sprint races of the IMSA VP SportsCar Challenge on this technically demanding circuit.
Having won the season opener at Sebring, Oscar Tunjo and Valentino Catalano lead the separate IMSA Airbnb Endurance Challenge standings. In the overall IMSA VP SportsCar Challenge standings – which combine the sprint and endurance races – Oscar Tunjo leads ahead of his team-mate Danny Soufi.
“We have fond memories of Virginia International Raceway, having won all three races there with Valentino last year. Now, new challenges await us in the endurance race there, but I’m confident we’ll rise to the occasion. Our objective is clear: we want to extend our lead at the top of the standings,” said team owner Fritz Gebhardt.
The two-hour race in the IMSA Airbnb Endurance Challenge will start on 21 June at 16:35 German time. The race will be broadcast worldwide via IMSA’s official livestream on YouTube. On Friday and Saturday, the drivers took part in two 50-minute practice sessions, before the starting positions are decided in qualifying on Saturday afternoon.
