With a Ligier and thorough preparation, the German Motor Sports Team is set to compete in the Prototype Cup Europe’s debut race at Mugello.
The Prototype Cup Europe kicks off its inaugural season at the Mugello circuit, picturesquely situated in the Tuscany. Organised by the Dutch Creventic organisation, the series is regarded as the successor to the Prototype Cup Germany. The German Motor Sports Team will be competing with a Ligier JS P325.
The car will be fielded by the experienced GEBHARDT Motorsport team, which operates the car as a customer entry. The Sinsheim-based team has secured titles in the Prototype Cup Germany and the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Championship in the USA in recent years. A fast and experienced driver duo, Valentino Catalano and Jacob Erlbacher, will be at the wheel.

“We have prepared well for the season with a test at Hockenheim and are starting the Prototype Cup Europe season with confidence. Our aim is to fight for top results in every race and to have a significant say in the championship battle,” said team manager Karl-David Jennings.
In the Prototype Cup Europe, two 55-minute races are held per race weekend. A pit stop including a driver change is mandatory at the halfway point of the race. The weekend kicks off with a one-hour practice session and two 15-minute qualifying sessions. Extensive test sessions will also take place at Mugello. The field of participants consists of international teams and drivers.
The two Prototype Cup Europe races take place on Saturday at 09:50 and on Sunday at 08:40. Both races can be watched via the official livestream. The two-part qualifying session on Friday at 14:50 will also be streamed.
